Swissnex is an initiative of the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation and is part of Switzerland’s network abroad managed by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
Our vision at Swissnex in San Francisco is to connect tomorrow by empowering the next generation of innovators to collaborate and create futures in which the planet and society thrive. We present a variety of programs in collaboration with Swiss partners for the next-gen innovators from Switzerland. The program participants consist of entrepreneurs, students and researchers, artists and designers, policy-makers, and corporate innovators, and are empowered by Swissnex in San Francisco's network of experts in the USA spanning various industries.
In 2025, Swissnex in San Francisco is focusing on four topics: AI, Robotics, Climate, and Science Communications.
Swissnex is the Swiss global network connecting Switzerland and the world in science, education, and innovation. Our five locations and outposts established in the world’s most innovative hubs support the outreach and active engagement of our partners in the international exchange of knowledge, ideas and talent.
Founded in 2000, Boston is the very first Swissnex location as well as the first Science Consulate in the world. The New York office opened in 2013. Swissnex in Boston and New York is located at our original Cambridge location in Greater Boston and at NeueHouse Madison Square in New York City.

Officially opened in 2023, Swissnex in Japan is the latest addition to the Swissnex network. We are based in the heart of Osaka.
Our office space is located in Pier 17 at San Francisco's waterfront and includes a working area that we share with Swiss academics, scientists, startups, designers, and innovation-driven companies, as well as a public event space.
