On the occasion of the CEATEC Japan 2020 virtual exhibition, Switzerland put the spotlight on the exceptional performance of the Swiss innovation ecosystem with the swisstech.Pitchinar 2020 organized by the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan.

The Swiss companies that participated were Secureaxis (AI-based acoustic analysis), Meteoblue (climate monitoring), YASAI (vertical farming), Global ID (biometric authentication system), URODEA (non-invasive solution for urinary retention), Hi-D Imaging (AI-based pre-operational planning for cardiac surgeries), SurgeonsLab (4D neuro-surgical simulators), WayRay (augmented reality for the car industry and beyond), AVAtronics (noise cancellation), Animatico (AI-based avatar guides) and Scandit (barcode scanning technology for every device).

The purely online event was opened by the Ambassador of Switzerland to Japan, Dr. Andreas Baum. Two Japanese experts, Dr. Taku Nakahara of Fast Track Initiative and Mr. Shumpei Kobayashi of Plug and Play Japan, added local insights into the attractiveness of the Swiss presenters. A solid number of potential industry partners, clients and investors joined and reached out to be connected with the Swiss start-ups after the event.

The pitchinar was promoted on the CEATEC and other platforms as an interview article with and a presentation by the Head of the Science & Technology Office Tokyo, Ms. Kyoko Suzuki. The latter attracted more viewers than presentations by other European countries right before and after.

On the CEATEC platform, a swisstech.Pavilion was also organized by the Embassy. Here, Kandou (chip to chip links) was presented as well.

The swisstech.Pitchinar and swisstech.Pavilion are part of #SwissTech, a campaign organized by Presence Switzerland in collaboration with Switzerland Global Enterprise and supporting institutional partners Innosuisse, digitalswitzerland and the swissnex network. The campaign aims to promote Switzerland as a leading high-tech nation that has much to offer to international investors and foreign companies.
