Special Presentation on Japan’s S&T Diplomacy by MOFA Advisors attracts high interest

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan gave a special presentation for members of the Science & Technology Diplomatic Circle at the Swiss Residence.

On March 17, the Science & Technology Office Tokyo (STO) jointly organized a seminar with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) for members of the Science & Technology Diplomatic Circle (S&TDC) at the Swiss Residence.

After the hybrid event was opened by Kyoko Marumo Suzuki (S&TDC co-chair and Head of STO), Prof. MATSUMOTO Yoichiro (Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan) and Prof. KANO Mitsunobu R. (Science and Technology Co-Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan) delivered a presentation on Japan’s science and technology diplomacy. This included concepts and backgrounds, activities and achievements as well as recent examples (STI showcase), such as efforts to tackle hunger and malnutrition, and transformation of food systems. The event was concluded by a Q&A session with active engagement of the audience.

The event took place in a hybrid format with speakers and a limited number of guests physically present at the Residence of the Embassy of Switzerland. A total of 23 representatives from various embassies and MOFA attended the event in person, and a broader audience of more than 40 people joined online. The S&TDC members and the MOFA Advisors continued to lively exchange on different topics after the presentation.
