The Study Abroad Fair, organized by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), is an annual event that provides Japanese students with essential information on global educational systems, scholarship opportunities, study abroad procedures, and student life.
After holding the 2023 edition online, this year’s fair took place on Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2024, at the Akasaka Intercity Conference Center in Tokyo. The event featured about 30 booths representing various countries and institutions. Among them, the Science and Technology Office Tokyo and the Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka, Swissnex in Japan, were present at the Swiss booth to answer questions from students interested in studying in Switzerland. The steady flow of participants highlighted the strong interest of Japanese students in studying abroad.
The Swiss booth attracted nearly 80 visitors throughout the event. Students and parents asked about university choices, language requirements, scholarships, student life, living costs, etc. Toward the end of the fair, a special seminar in Japanese by Minami Kotani, head of academic relations at Swissnex in Japan, drew almost 30 participants interested in learning more about studying and living in Switzerland.
A section of the fair was dedicated to Japanese alumni who had studied abroad, where they shared their personal experiences and advice. Switzerland was represented by Riku Horie, who completed his Master’s Degree in Energy Science and Technology at EPFL.
Thank you to JASSO for inviting us again this year and for the perfect organization!
