Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping learning — from personalized instruction and adaptive feedback to new tools that support teachers and students. As schools and universities begin integrating AI into classrooms, key questions emerge around opportunity, equity, ethics, and impact.
This webinar brings together two leading voices in the focused on AI-enhanced learning environments — Jacob Whitehill, Associate Professor of Computer Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and Christine D’Auria, Assistant Director of the Learning Lab at Harvard’s Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning — to discuss the broader pedagogical and policy implications of these new technologies. Together, they will explore how AI can personalize learning pathways, support teaching in STEM and beyond, and introduce new considerations for educational institutions.

Philippe Roesle
CEO of Swissnex in Boston and New York
Consul of Switzerland in BostonPhilippe Roesle is the CEO of Swissnex in Boston and New York, and Consul of Switzerland in Boston since August 2025. He previously served as CEO of Swissnex in China and as Head of the Science, Technology and Education Office at the Swiss Embassy in Beijing. Philippe joined the Swissnex network in in London supporting startup internationalization, and has served in several roles since, including as Head of Swissnex at Expo 2017 Astana, and Acting Head of Bilateral Relations at the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI. Philippe holds a Bachelors from University of Basel and a Masters and PhD from King’s College London.

Christine D'Auria
Assistant Director
Learning Lab at Harvard UniversityAs Assistant Director of the Learning Lab, Christine collaborates with students, faculty, and the Learning Lab team to develop multimodal and AI projects that have applications in a range of courses and departments across Harvard College and the Harvard Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Christine received her MA in Literary and Cultural Studies from Carnegie Mellon University and holds a PhD in American Studies from Boston University. When not at the Learning Lab, Christine can be found watching movies and baking cakes.

Bio
Jacob Whitehill
Associate Professor of Computer Science
Worcester Polytechnic InstituteJacob’s research interests are in applied machine learning, computer vision, data science and their applications to education, affective computing, and human behavior recognition. His work is highly interdisciplinary and frequently intersects cognitive science, psychology, and education. Before joining WPI, he was a research scientist at the Office of the Vice Provost for Advances in Learning at Harvard University. In 2012, he co-founded Emotient, a San Diego-based startup company for automatic emotion and facial expression recognition. He also loves teaching and have lectured, mentored, and tutored students in the USA, South Africa, Rwanda, and Germany.
