
On February 27, a special networking opportunity was organized at the Swiss Ambassador’s residence alongside the City-Tech.Tokyo exhibition. The event featured Swiss excellence represented by the startups Flyability and ZESST by Almatech, and the innovation park ecosystem Switzerland Innovation that were exhibiting at the Swisstech booth at City-Tech.Tokyo. 50 selected representatives from Japanese media, academia, industry, venture capitalists, government and other stakeholders attended on this occasion.
The event was opened by its host Dr. Andreas Baum, Ambassador of Switzerland to Japan, and moderated by Ms. Kyoko Marumo Suzuki, Head of the Science & Technology Office Tokyo. Mr. Niels Delore of Flyability opened the presentation part and impressed the guests with a demonstration of the high-tech indoor inspection drone Elios 3. ZESST by Almatech showcased a novel model of their hydrogen-powered and zero-emission ferry. Furthermore, Ms. Yumiko Misaki of ZESST introduced ambitious plans for the commercial use of the sustainable ship during the upcoming Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai. The last presentation was given by Mr. Toshihiro Matsuda of the Swiss Business Hub Japan who represented Switzerland Innovation – a unique ecosystem consisting of six innovation parks throughout the country.
After the presentations, Dr. Felix Moesner, Consul of the Swiss Consulate in Osaka and CEO of Swissnex in Japan, gave a short speech and a toast. The speakers engaged in lively discussions with the audience during the networking dinner.
The Swisstech booth at City-Tech.Tokyo was organized by the Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka, Swissnex in Japan in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland. Both the booth and the networking dinner were organized as part of the Embassy’s Vitality.Swiss campaign on the road to the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.
City-Tech.Tokyo is an initiative of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government held in its first edition on February 27 and 28, 2023. The exhibition pursues the goal to create a sustainable society through open innovation by bringing together domestic and international startups, showcasing new solutions and products for smart cities.
