Journalism Multimedia Lab

An Immersive Journey in Multimedia Journalism

The 2024 Multimedia Lab for Journalists is a 2-week intensive program designed for established and emerging professionals in journalism and multimedia storytelling.

Through a curated program the multimedia lab will enable the participants to enhance their current journalistic project, by exploring innovative storytelling techniques and tools, cutting-edge technologies, including generative AI, with the objective of developing a multimedia production by the end of the program.

Selected fellows will have the additional opportunity to continue developing their projects for one to three months within the Swissnex office space at San Francisco’s Pier 17 location. During this time, fellows will be exposed to the Bay Area’s thriving journalism community, network with industry mentors and partners, and receive visibility and financial support.

Check out our last year’s edition in the highlight video and read more about it here.

Why the Bay Area

The Bay Area is renowned for its innovative approach to storytelling and outreach, with the current AI boom, but also virtual and augmented reality, crowdsourcing, open access, and data-driven storytelling. Swissnex San Francisco is located in close proximity to several leading organizations, including the San Francisco Chronicle, OpenAI, Autodesk, Google, Meta, Adobe PLOS, UC Berkeley, KQED, and Stanford University.
