At A Glance
Swissnex is the Swiss global network connecting the dots in education, research, and innovation. Founded in 2008, Swissnex in China is located in Shanghai, working closely with the Embassy of Switzerland in China and Consulates-General in Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Our mission is to support the outreach and active engagement of our partners in the international exchange of knowledge, ideas and talent. The five main Swissnex locations are established in some of the world’s most innovative regions. Together with around twenty Science and Technology Offices (STO) and Counselors (STC) based in Swiss Embassies, they contribute to strengthen Switzerland’s profile as a world-leading innovation hotspot.
The core value of Swissnex consists of:

• Advising on trends and opportunities in science, education and innovation,
• Promoting the visibility of Swiss higher education and research institutions, start-ups and other innovation-driven partner organizations.

Swissnex is an initiative of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation and is part of the Confederation’s network abroad managed by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. The Swissnex activities are based on a collaborative approach, relying on public and private partnerships and funding.

The Cosmos Archaeology Exhibition Concludes with Successful Collaborations and Future Prospects
December 19, 2024After a successful run from May 18 to November 17, 2024, the Cosmos Archaeology exhibition ended at the Shanghai Astronomy Museum. This fruitful Sino-Swiss collaboration between Swissnex in China, EPFL Pavilions, and the Shanghai Astronomy Museum bridged the gap between scientific data and artistic interpretations to give the public a captivating blend of art and science. Visitors experienced the universe through multisensory installations and immersive technologies. Originally scheduled for four months, the exhibition was extended thanks to great public interest, attracting over 73,000 visitors during its run. The exhibition received support from Tsinghua University, Shanghai Astronomical Observatory CAS, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC), Yuanzhen Culture, and Presence Switzerland.

Bridging Art and Science: “Mirror of Nature” Inspires Sino-Swiss Dialogues in Biodiversity
December 20, 2023“Mirror of Nature: Biodiversity through the Lens of Technology and Art” is an art exhibition that delves into the realm of biological and environmental sciences. Hosted by Swissnex in China, and in collaboration with University of Zurich, the exhibition is currently on show from December 15, 2023 until January 15, 2024 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai Pavilion. Complemented by a curated series of dialogues and workshops, the project aims to inspire public engagement and foster an exchange of ideas that resonate beyond the confines of the museum walls.

Swiss deeptech solutions receive accolades at the 23rd China Hi-Tech Fair
January 5, 2022EH Group Engineering, Fixposition, Miraex, STOR-H and SynSense was recognized with the Excellent Product Award at the 2021 China Hi-Tech Fair for their innovations in the fields of vehicle technology, positioning technology, photonics and quantum solutions, green technology, and neuromorphic intelligence. Additionally, STOR-H and SynSense were selected for the Premium Innovation Products Showcase: the only international exhibitors to receive the honour.

Six Swiss Deeptech Startups Awarded at Tech G Shanghai International Consumer Electronics Show
December 28, 2021Six Swiss startups were presented with Great Tech Awards at Shanghai International Consumer Electronics Show (Tech G). Flyability, F&P Robotics, holo|one, Oxyle, STOR-H and SynSense were recognised for their breakthroughs in drone technology, robotics, AR/VR, green technology and neuromorphic intelligence.

swisstech pavilion at CTIS 2021
June 17, 2021Continuing the tradition of Swiss startups pitching at the biggest tech expos around the globe, Switzerland kicked off the new swisstech China series starting with the national startup pavilion at Consumer Technology & Innovation Show (CTIS) 2021 from June 9 - 11, 2021. The Best of CTIS Innovation Award was bestowed upon three out of the five startups participating on-site.

Sino-Swiss Energy Innovation Forum
May 20, 2021In May 2021, the Science Consulate of Switzerland, Swissnex in China partnered with the Swiss Federal Office of Energy to launch the first Sino-Swiss Energy Innovation Forum, which brought together 333 Swiss and Chinese experts for a mutual dialogue on the future of energy innovation.
