At the second annual Quantum World Congress held in the Washington, D.C. area on September 26-28, 2023, Swissnex joined over 70 delegates from 17 countries at an international forum to discuss how to advance global strategic partnerships. Brendan Karch, Head of Academic Engagement at Swissnex in Boston and New York, represented Switzerland at a discussion-based session that featured representatives from government, NGOs, academia, and the private sector.

This international forum provided a platform for candid discussion of the successes and challenges of building partnerships across national quantum ecosystems. Topics included sustaining investment, aligning and prioritizing use cases, coordinating education programs, and ethical considerations. In the Swiss case, the strength of private enterprise and bottom-up initiatives were emphasized.

Karch was joined in the Swiss delegation by Kristi Shalla from the Swiss Business Hub USA, Anca Albu from QAI Ventures, and Julien Baglio and Renu Ann Joseph from QuantumBasel. The Quantum World Congress, organized by the Washington, D.C. regional economic agency Connected DMV, aims to be the “premier global quantum conference” by attracting international participants from all major quantum sectors.
