Swissnex Report on Quantum in the Asia-Pacific

To foster collaboration between Switzerland and the Asia-Pacific region, Swissnex produced an overview of the state of quantum computing and related technologies across six countries.

Nextrends Asia, Swissnex’s platform for exploring trends in education, research, and innovation in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, published a report in April on the region’s diverse quantum ecosystems. The report, “The state of quantum technologies in the APAC region: Views from Asia and Australia,” discusses quantum policy, funding, actors, research areas, and collaboration opportunities across Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.

As the report finds, all six countries have identified quantum technologies as a key focus area and invested public resources for research or innovation. Combined, these countries produce over one third of all quantum publications, but only two of them, China and Japan, feature among Switzerland’s top 10 collaborator countries for quantum research. The opportunity is thus ripe for deeper collaboration between Switzerland and APAC on quantum.

The report was created collaboratively by the Swissnex network across the region. Swissnex maintains offices in Bangalore, Shanghai, and Osaka, with additional Science & Technology Offices in the Swiss Embassies in Beijing, Canberra, New Delhi, Seoul, Singapore, and Tokyo.
