As countries around the world build roadmaps to prepare for a quantum-enabled economy, Switzerland finds itself in a strong position. With the goal of building on these strengths, Switzerland released its inaugural Swiss Quantum Strategy on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. The Strategy lays out a vision of Switzerland as a leading international hub for quantum science, education, and innovation, providing a world-class environment in which scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, investors, and companies of all sizes develop and harness quantum technologies.

The authors offer a set of recommendations to achieve this goal. Building on Switzerland’s strength in fundamental quantum research, the strategy calls for additional efforts to develop translational infrastructures to bring technologies from lab to market. In addition, it recommend the establishment of a deep-tech fund to help scale SMEs in quantum and related fields.

The Swiss Quantum Strategy was written by the Swiss Quantum Commission (SQC), a group of leading quantum experts hosted at the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) as part of the Swiss Quantum Initiative (SQI), on behalf of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI). As the global network of SERI, Swissnex contributed insights on the internationalization of the Swiss quantum ecosystem, and supported the SQC in developing and refining the strategy document.

In alignment with the Swiss Quantum Strategy, Swissnex’s Project Quantum supports the internationalization of the Swiss quantum ecosystem by facilitating the exchange of best practices on ecosystem building and representing Swiss stakeholders at global quantum events.
