Swiss Alumni Sakura 2023
Raclette, Akashiyaki, Nostalgia and Cherry Blossoms April 1, 2023The Swiss residence in Kobe was alive with excitement this April 1st, 2023 as almost a hundred Swiss alumni from all over Japan gathered to celebrate the full bloom of the cherry blossoms. The new Consulate of Switzerland, Swissnex in Japan, organizes alumni gatherings as part of their mission to promote education and innovation in the country. This event created a stronger network of Swiss alumni in Japan, and provided an opportunity for them to connect and share their experiences. The gathering was attended by alumni from some of the top Swiss universities and schools, including École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), ETH Zürich, Geneva Graduate Institute, University of Geneva, University of Basel, University of Bern, University of Fribourg, University of Geneva, University of Lausanne, University of St.Gallen, University of Zurich, Università della Svizzera italiana, EHL, Berner Fachhochschule, Lausanne University Hospital, University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons, HES-SO, IMD Business School, Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz, ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences and more. The day was a success, with many alumni networking over delicious Swiss food and drinks, and sharing stories about their experiences in Switzerland. There was also a great deal of nostalgia for present and past students, as well as for the beauty of the cherry blossoms in full bloom. The Swiss Alumni event was also attended by members of the Swiss Society of the Kansai (SSOK) and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCIJ). We hope that this will foster a lasting and growing network for the Swiss community that we all cherish. Whether you are a current or former student of a Swiss university or school, or simply a fan of the country and its culture, this event was a great opportunity to meet and connect with others who share your passion. It was a day to celebrate Swiss excellence, and to explore the diverse experiences of alumni living in Japan.
