Swissnex in Boston and New York is honored to welcome Katie Stebbins as the first member of its new advisory board. To support Swissnex, she will be able to draw on her expertise in building innovation ecosystems and communities in a wide range of sectors and disciplines.
Katie played a leading role in Massachusetts’s innovation economy as the inaugural Secretary for Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship in Governor Charlie Baker’s administration, where she led state-wide investment efforts in clean energy, cybersecurity, health tech, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. She is now the Executive Director of the Food and Nutrition Innovation Institute at Tufts University, and an Innovator in Residence at the MIT Innovation Initiative. She is also actively engaged in Global Epic, an international consortium of economic leaders in the field of cybersecurity.
“I’m very excited to join the adventure of taking Swissnex to the next level,” says Katie. “Switzerland, one of the world’s most innovative countries, that is also known for the incredible quality of its design and engineering, is perfectly positioned to make a difference.”
Katie has worked for twenty years designing and implementing technology-driven projects for ecological and economic sustainability. She was previously the Vice President for Economic Development at the University of Massachusetts President’s Office and has launched three of her own companies. She is formally trained in economic development and environmental planning, with degrees from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the University of Colorado Boulder.
