We are honored to have hosted a distinguished sabbatical from ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Dr. Marcus Wunsch, who shared his insights and experiences. Alongside him, we welcomed esteemed Japanese experts, Mr. Roi Hirata from Ava Labs, Ms. Jinny Foo from OPTAGE, and Mr. Kenji Sugawara from SettleMint. Through the panel discussion, we received many questions from the engaging audience, which allowed us to delve deeper into the future of Fintech. This event provided a platform to further contemplate the common challenges faced by both Switzerland and Japan.

    Zurich University of Applied Science

    Dr. Marcus Wunsch is a distinguished lecturer, holding a PhD in applied mathematics from University of Vienna and boasting two postdoctoral experiences from ETH Zurich and Kyoto University. He has a rich background in quantitative risk management, portfolio management, systematic investment strategies, and credit portfolio risk modeling and gained these experiences in UBS and Quantica Capital. Dr. Wunsch’ multifaceted experience positions him as a thought leader at the forefront of quantitative finance, bridging the gap between research and real-world application.

    Working as Web3 Head of strategy sales at OPTAGE. OPTAGE is currently providing nodes for cryptocurrency exchanges and other platforms. This enables cryptocurrency exchanges to implement staking on these nodes. From the perspective of DeFi, Liquid Staking Derivative (LSD) has been growing at a scale surpassing DEX in terms of LTV, attracting attention from players in Japan. The nodes offered by OPTAGE, with LSD in consideration, hold significant potential as the foundation for DeFi in Japanese cryptocurrency exchanges and similar platforms.

Entered the cryptocurrency industry in 2020. Served as the Asia/Japan region official advocate for Blockchain Oracle Chainlink until 2022. Joined the Head of Japan for Ava Labs, the development company behind Avalanche in January 2023.
