10 Swiss Medtech Startups Coming to Massachusetts

The Venture Leaders Medtech 2024 – members of the “Swiss National Startup Team” – will visit Boston on an innovation roadshow in November.

From November 4 to 8, Swissnex and Venturelab will bring 10 Swiss startups to Boston for the Venture Leaders Medtech 2024 program. During this week, the “Swiss National Startup Team” will connect with leading investors, business executives, and experts in the local life sciences field. On November 6, the where the startups will pitch their solutions at the Medtech Pitchfest 2024, organized by Swissnex and Venturelab and supported by Lando & Anastasi, LLP.

Throughout the week, the Venture Leaders will have the opportunity to explore the world’s top life sciences hub, pitch their ideas to investors and venture capitalists, gain valuable insights into the U.S. business landscape from experienced Boston entrepreneurs, and build strategic relationships to help facilitate their entry into the market.

The Venture Leaders Medtech 2024 are:

  • Apersys | Saving patients in need of an organ transplant with a long-term liver perfusion system able to preserve a liver organ for up to 7 days.
  • BIOS Medical |  Restoring life after hip fracture with the world’s first implanted hip mobility sensor.
  • Metadvice | Advancing clinical outcomes and streamline the healthcare workflow with AI-powered software to enhance clinical decision‑making.
  • MYNERVA | Reducing falls and chronic pain in patients suffering from diabetic neuropathy through a combination of Artificial Intelligence and Non-invasive neurostimulation.
  • Aseptuva | Improving patient care and preventing hospital acquired infections with UVC-technology for catheters.
  • Calico Biosystems | Predicting the clinical efficacy of anti-cancer drugs at a pre-clinical stage using intact patient tumors.
  • Citus | Revolutionizing skin diagnostics with the Nimble, an aspiration device exceeding current industry standards on sensitivity and accuracy.
  • Impli |  Making fertility treatment more accessible, safer and more successful with real-time hormone monitoring.
  • OncoSwab | Detecting early-stage lung cancer with a non-invasive, easy-to-use test.
  • OneTwenty | Making diabetes care smarter, more reliable and more reassuring with a machine learning solution that predicts blood glucose 120 minutes in advance.

Success Stories

Members of recent Venture Leaders cohorts have achieved success in Boston. Last year, Alentis, a participant in the fall 2022 roadshow, closed a $105 million Series C funding round with participation by RA Capital Management, a Boston-based multi-stage investment manager focused on healthcare and life sciences. Also in 2023, Bionomous, another participant in the fall 2022 roadshow, closed a $2.7 million Series A funding round with participation by Cybernetix Ventures, a Boston-based venture capital firm focused on robotics. Biped robotics, a participant in the fall 2023 roadshow, recently entered the US market with NOA, its mobility vest for people with blindness and low vision.

Venture Leaders Medtech 2024 is organized by Venturelab in partnership with Swissnex in Boston and supported by EPFL, ETH Zurich, Hansjörg Wyss, Health Innovation Hub Aargau, Kellerhals Carrard, Canton de Vaud, Canton Zurich, and VISCHER.
