Gabriela Galván’s work centers on exploring the concept of transformation. She creates formal meditations on found and everyday objects, which she uses to activate the relationship between the viewer and the site.

Working across disciplines—installation, public art, sculpture, drawing, design, performance, and video—she develops site-specific projects informed by research and engagement with the cultural contexts in which she works and lives. Her work unfolds through process-oriented investigations of temporality and ecology, fostering interrelation and multisensory experiences to engage diverse audiences spanning multiple generations and cultural backgrounds.

Galván’s work has been exhibited in the United States, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, India, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, including institutions such as Kunsthaus Baselland (CH), Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofía (ESP),  Zacheta National Gallery (PL). In Mexico at Museo Tamayo, Museo de Arte Moderno, Museo Carrillo Gil, Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros and Museo de la Ciudad de México (in collaboration with the Centre George Pompidou) among others

She has combined her art practice with art education as a guest lecturer at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel (CH), Fashion Institute of Technology (US), Research Foundation of CUNY,(US) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan ( PL) among others.

She lives and works in New York.
