Swissnex in China is co-organizing the webinar with Swissnex in India. A focus discussion group comprising researchers and experts from the EPFL Lausanne, WRI India and WRI China will shed light on the current market trends on energy storage in the Swiss, Indian and Chinese landscape. The objective is to see the direction the aforementioned countries are taking in terms of technology and policy and explore if possible synergies can be explored.

Dr. Yasmine Calisesi
Executive Director of the EPFL Energy Center CENDr. Yasmine Calisesi is the Executive Director of the EPFL Energy Center CEN since June 2019. Her role is to catalyze energy research led by EPFL laboratories, notably in collaboration with industrial and institutional partners, and enhance EPFL’s impact and image as a world-leading research and education institution.

Prof. Md. K. Nazeeruddin
EPFLDr. Nazeeruddin was awarded the title of Professor at EPFL in 2014. His current research at EPFL focuses on Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells, Perovskite Solar Cells, CO2 reduction, Hydrogen production, and Light-emitting diodes. He has published more than 625 peer-reviewed papers, ten book chapters, and he is inventor/co-inventor of over 50 patents. According to the Web of Science in 2016, Prof. Nazeeruddin is the 5th most cited chemist in the world and is one of the 19 scientists identified by Thomson Reuters as the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds in 2015 (from all scientific domains).

EPFLKumar Varoon Agrawal is GAZNAT Chair of Advanced Separations and a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering (ISIC). At EPFL, Kumar’s group is developing novel synthetic routes for two-dimensional (2-d) nanoporous materials and their films with precise control of nanopore size and functionality.

Associate Director, Energy, WRI IndiaMr. Krishnan is the Associate Director for WRI India’s Energy Program and leads work on Clean Energy Initiatives (Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency) for different consumer categories; Clean Energy Transitions and Water-Energy nexus. He is a certified Energy Risk Professional. He is an electrical engineering graduate and holds a Master’s degree in electric power systems.

Ltd. and leads the Emerging Technologies practice for Customized Energy Solutions globally with focus on energy storage, renewables, demand response and smart grid technologies as well as international markets. He is also founder & President for India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA). He served as member of the Board of Directors of Energy Storage Association (ESA) in US during 2009-15 and was elected as Secretary in 2013. He was elected as Vice Chair for Global Energy Storage Alliance (GESA) in 2014.

Associate Professor, Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP)Bo Zhou, Associate Professor From New energy Power System and Intelligent Distribution Research Institute at SUEP. in 2013, he was supported by the excellent scholarship program of the Swiss government, and went to the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland as a Senior visiting scholar. His research is mainly engaged in Electricity market operation, Power trading Policy and mechanism, market transaction, risk assessment & prevention, economic operation of distribution network, renewable energy access & energy conservation and Emission Reduction Policy.

Ms. Min Yuan
WRI ChinaMin Yuan is a research associate of WRI China. She focuses on renewable energy policy research, energy consumption and GHG emission analysis at both national and sub national level. She has been deeply involved in the study on distributed renewable energy road map in Yangtze River Delta Region, research on corporate renewable energy procurement mechanism etc. Before joining WRI, Min Yuan had been working for Energy Research Institution of NDRC for nearly 4 years, mainly focused on energy and climate change related policy research.
