Tech&Ethics II: Navigating Innovation and Integrity in Life Sciences

Building on the success of Tech&Ethics: Shaping Digital Integrity in 2024, Swissnex in China is proud to announce the next chapter of this initiative which aims to increase Switzerland’s knowledge and competencies on China. This year, the program will explore emerging challenges and opportunities in the field of Life Sciences and Bioethics.

This year’s focus will lie at the intersection of ethics and life sciences, exploring how cutting-edge advancements in biotechnology, genetics, and health innovations impact societal values and governance frameworks.

China’s rapid life sciences advancements are increasingly drawing public, academic, and governmental attention to bioethical concerns. At the same time, Switzerland remains a global leader in biomedical research and innovation, upholding strong ethical and regulatory standards. This context creates an excellent opportunity for dialogue on bioethics between China and Switzerland, supporting Swissnex in China’s ongoing mission to foster academic and cross-cultural collaboration.

The upcoming program will dive deep into ethical questions. Through workshops, company visits, and intercultural dialogues designed to spark collaboration and meaningful impact, we will address some of the following questions:

  • How do we balance technological innovation with public trust?
  • What frameworks ensure that breakthroughs in medicine, genetics, and biotechnologies align with human dignity and equity?
  • What ethical considerations should be included in personalized medicine and patient data privacy?
  • How can cross-cultural perspectives influence bioethics and public perceptions of life sciences?

Swiss participants will have a full program meeting with Chinese experts from philosophy, ethics, and biomedical science and joining keynote panels, expert roundtables, and interactive sessions.

Are you at the forefront of ethical research in life sciences or eager to join the conversation?
