Secure the Future: Swiss & Brazil Cyber Roundtable

With highly digitalized economies counting on a strong information and communication technology (ICT) sector as well as committed efforts in promoting innovation and technological development, Brazil and Switzerland have opportunities for collaboration in the attainment of their respective sustainable development goals. The Web Summit is the ideal occasion to explore them.

When it comes to cybersecurity and Web 3.0., both countries have different areas of expertise and could benefit from each other’s strengths to create a more secure and resilient digital future. In a roundtable, this session focuses on potential synergies in the following sectors:

Cryptography and blockchain technology
Switzerland is home to several leading cryptography and blockchain technology companies, including the Crypto Valley Association and the Ethereum Foundation. Brazil, on the other hand, has a large and growing blockchain community, with several startups and initiatives focused on using blockchain for social impact. There may be opportunities for collaboration between Swiss and Brazilian companies in developing and implementing secure blockchain solutions.

Cybersecurity research and education
Switzerland has a strong reputation for its universities and research institutions, including the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich) and the University of Geneva. Brazil has also invested heavily in higher education and has several leading universities, such as the University of São Paulo and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Collaboration in cybersecurity research and education could help both countries to develop new technologies and strategies to address emerging threats.

Cybersecurity standards and regulations
Switzerland is known for its strict data protection laws and regulations, while Brazil has recently implemented it’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD). Collaborating on cybersecurity standards and regulations could help establish international data protection norms and enhance cooperation between the two countries in cybersecurity matters.

Cybercrime prevention and law enforcement
Both Switzerland and Brazil have experienced cybercrime incidents in recent years, and both countries have taken steps to strengthen their cybersecurity capabilities. Collaboration in cybercrime prevention and law enforcement could help improve incident response and investigations and share best practices.

We will have the pleasure of counting on the presence of representatives from NYM Tech, Avalia Systems, Vibra Energia, and Anapaya.
