Open Talk: Technology Meets Architecture

On Monday, September 3rd, the open talk and reception “Technology meets Architecture – Designing together the living environment of tomorrow” was held at Academy Hall in DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza). The event was organized by the Science & Technology Office and about 150 among professors, students, architects and construction companies joined and participated actively

After a welcoming message by Dr. Linus Von Castelmur, Ambassador of Switzerland to the REpublic of Korea, and a short introduction of the open talk and STO activities by Dr. Alessandra Apicella, Head of S&T Office, the open talk started.
The first session was dedicated to Human Centered Built Environment including the contributions of Prof. Jeong Jaeseung from KAIST, Prof. Denis Lalanne from University of Fribourg, Prof. Thomas Schröpfer from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Center in Singapore and Thorsten Schütze from SungKyunKwan University. They addressed main questions related to the interaction between humans and their living space and how to make it more sustainable.
AFter a dynamic Q&A session, Prof. Dolaana Khovalyg form EPFL ,Mr Kyunghun Woo from Samsung C&T, Mr. Enrico Marchesi from EMPA and Mr. Röthlisberger from Solaxess contributed to the second session Technology meets Architecture. Examples of technology transfer between research and industry were the main focus.

The networking moment at the end of the open talk facilitated interaction between the speakers and the audience and the establishment of new contacts for the future fruitful cooperation.
