From May 14-17, 2019 a delegation from Basel including 8 startups (names in the leaflet below) active in healthcare sector took advantage of an intense program organized by the STO in Seoul, which also partly coincided with the inauguration festivities of the new Swiss embassy building.
The program included:
Visits and individual meetings at Green Cross MS, Seoul Bio Hub and Korea Digital Health Industry Association. The meetings were organized through a matchmaking process according to Swiss startups’ interest. Participation on Korean side was high and follow-ups on-going.
Startup workshop was co-organized by STO and University of Basel and moderated by Christian Schneider, Head of Innovation at the same university. It consisted in speed mentoring involving Swiss and Korean mentors as well as Swiss and Korean startups (16 in total). The 6th Life Science Symposium and workshop planned for August 28-29 in Basel will be a natural follow-up.
The UNIST-Basel joint workshop took place at Plaza Hotel where 14 startups in healthcare from UNIST joined the Swiss delegation, received training about brand and had the opportunity to pitch in front of investors and general audience (about 100 people). 3 Startups (2 Korean and 1 Swiss) were awarded as most voted under the question “Which startup would you be ready to invest in?”
