With the creation of Dall-E 2 and other text-to-image software, the classical question – will humans be replaced by AI in the area of art and design was back in the conversation again. Whether positive or negative, the new technology is out there and has made a revolutionary change to the field. Integrating the latest science and technology into art and design education has become a new challenge that art and design educators are facing.
In the upcoming Art x Science Dialogues, we will focus on design and innovation in the digital age and will invite two experts for the conversation – Ms. Alexia Mathieu, Head MA Media Design program at HEAD – Genève, and Mr. Tongzhou Yu, Deputy Director of Institute of Media and Interaction Design at School of Design & Innovation, China Academy of Art. Both speakers will share their perspectives and practices on implementing new technological tools, such as data analysis, machine learning, immersive technology, etc., into the teaching curriculums and their own works.
Join us in the webinar and get ready to dive with our speakers into the new world of design and innovation.

The School of Design and Innovation of China Academy of Art (CAA)
The School of Design and Innovation of China Academy of Art (CAA) was established in June 2018 and is based in Liangzhu, the “origin of Chinese civilization” and the “forefront of the digital economy.” In September 2021, the teaching experiment zone for innovative design was established by CAA for the future development of society. As a new growth point for the expansion of disciplines and specialties of CAA and an important part of the construction of the “Double First-Class” initiative, the school adheres to the teaching objectives of “focusing on the integration of art and science, promoting cross-border teaching, creating an innovative community, and reconstructing the design culture.”
The school actively integrates global design education resources, innovates teaching and management mechanisms, creates cutting-edge and comprehensive innovative design disciplines, promotes Internet-based intelligent manufacturing and design integration innovation, and strives to create “new” Staatliches Bauhaus and Vkhutemas in the era of big data and AI media.
Art x Science Dialogues
Art x Science Dialogues is a new webinar series initiated by Swissnex in China in 2020. The webinar series not only presents artistic projects where scientists and research engineers are deeply involved but also looks into new interdisciplinary initiatives and trends. Through the dialogues between artists and scientists, we try to stimulate the exchange of ideas between the two different worlds and explore opportunities for collaboration.
