A Fresh Look at Science

Digital Science Photo Exhibition presenting the winning entries of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) annual competition, on show at Swissnex in China from December 1-31, 2018.

The annual competition for scientific images organized by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) aims to give viewers fresh and unexpected glimpses of the fascinating world of science. The Competition encourages researchers working in Switzerland to present their works to the public and the media.

In cooperation with SNSF, Swissnex in China will run a digital science photo exhibition on our public screen of the 12 winning entries of 2018 competition out of over 350 submissions. The selected photographs, images and videos present science from a new angle: they tell personal, sometimes intimate stories beyond the lab and cover a large range of topics and emotions. All submitted pictures and videos are available online on Flickr.

Swiss National Science Foundation

Based on a government mandate, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) supports scientific research in all academic disciplines, from history to medicine and the engineering sciences.

In close collaboration with higher education institutions and other partners, the SNSF strives to create optimal conditions for the development and international integration of Swiss research. It pays attention to the promotion of young researchers. In addition, it accepts evaluation mandates in order to ensure that large research initiatives funded by third parties deliver the highest scientific quality.
