Tech&Ethics in Life Sciences: Between Tradition and Innovation

Sino-Swiss Dialogue co-organized by Swissnex in China, the School of Philosophy at Fudan University, and the Institute of Technology Ethics for Human Future at Fudan University

Recent breakthroughs in life sciences—ranging from gene editing and AI in healthcare to brain-computer interfaces and behavioral design—are reshaping how we understand, treat, and enhance human life. These transformations raise complex ethical questions that extend beyond the laboratory and clinic, calling for fresh perspectives from philosophy, policy, science, and art.

This forum aims to bridge traditional and emerging ethical frameworks, drawing on Eastern and Western philosophical perspectives, and to foster interdisciplinary exchange among ethicists, scientists, legal scholars, designers, artists, and the public. Together, we will explore how ethics can keep pace with technological innovation in medicine and life sciences, and how cultural traditions can inform responsible and inclusive futures.

The event will be co-organized by Swissnex in China, the School of Philosophy at Fudan University, and the Institute of Technology Ethics for Human Future at Fudan University as a side event of the 2025 Pujiang Innovation Forum.
