Swissnex in China, the Science Consulate of Switzerland in China, was founded in 2008. Working together with the Science, Technology, Education & Innovation Section at the Embassy of Switzerland in China and Consulates General in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, Swissnex in China connects Switzerland, China, and the world in science, research, education, and innovation.

China has been Switzerland's largest trading partner in Asia and third-largest globally since 2010. Today, around 1,000 Swiss companies are active in China, leveraging the combination of Chinese scale and speed with Swiss innovation and precision. For Swiss startups, China offers a window into emerging technologies, customer trends, and new business models: the insights that can help them anticipate global shifts instead of reacting to them.
Swissnex in Shanghai connects Swiss and Chinese actors in education, research, and innovation. Located in China's main economic hub, it drives Swissnex in China's engagement across the entire country and provides direct access to the innovation ecosystem of the Yangtze River Delta focused on robotics, advanced manufacturing, biotech, and medtech.
Swissnex in Hong Kong supports Swiss education, research and innovation actors in engaging with Hong Kong, as well as Shenzhen and the wider Greater Bay Area. The academic institutions, funding ecosystem, and innovation landscape of the region are characterized by strengths in robotics, advanced manufacturing, fintech, and life sciences.
The Science, Technology & Education Office at the Embassy of Switzerland in Beijing is part of the Swissnex in China network. As a policy-oriented bureau, it fosters bilateral cooperation in education, research, and innovation between Switzerland and China, and leads the Sino-Swiss VPET Alliance.
