    Startup Program Manager

    What your workday looks like

    As Startup Program Manager, you are responsible for managing and continuously improving Swissnex’s startup and entrepreneurship programs. You lead the end-to-end execution of the quarterly startup camps and serve as the primary point of contact for startups, investors, partners, and startup ecosystem stakeholders.

    You work closely with the Startup Ecosystem Lead and the Startup Program Associate, other Swissnex colleagues, and a broad network of Swiss and Bay Area founders, investors, and subject-matter experts. Your role combines program management, ecosystem engagement, operational coordination, and community building in a fast-paced, international environment.

    Your primary areas of responsibility
    • Execution of Startup Camps and Development of Startup Programs (60%)
    • Startup Program Operational and Communications Support (20%)
    • Network and General Support (20%)
    Who we are looking for
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 1–3 years of relevant professional experience
    • Experience managing projects and working with project management and CRM tools
    • Ability to identify, research, and proactively engage founders, experts, mentors, and partners through targeted outreach
    • Proven interest in entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation
    • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

    Mandatory: Due to our legal status as an annex of the Swiss Consulate, we can only hire candidates who are Swiss or US citizens or permanent residents. There can be no exceptions.

    Salary range: $90K-$95K
    • For U.S. applicants, subject to U.S. taxes
    • For Swiss applicants, who are not subject to U.S. taxes, the salary range will be adjusted to reflect an equivalent purchasing power (i.e., a lower range)

    Startup Ecosystem Lead

    What your workday looks like

    As Startup Ecosystem Lead, you own the strategic direction, quality, and impact of Swissnex’s entrepreneurship and startup activities. You are the senior in-house expert on startups, entrepreneurship, and venture capital, and you translate ecosystem insights into high-quality programs, partnerships, events and experiences.

    You lead the Startup & Entrepreneurship team (consisting of 1 FTE and 1 intern), oversee the global coordination of the startup camps across multiple Swissnex locations, and ensure coherence and consistency for all outputs.

    In addition, you work closely with the Head of Programs, as well as communications and operations colleagues, to develop new programs and formats. Externally you collaborate with senior stakeholders in Switzerland and the U.S., representing Swissnex and strengthening its position within the startup and venture capital ecosystem.

    Your primary areas of responsibility
    • Strategy, development & implementation of new programs in the Startup Ecosystem (50%)
    • Global coordination of the startup camps across the Swissnex network (20%)
    • Management of the Startup Ecosystem Team and internal collaboration (20%)
    • Startup Ecosystem Representation & Network Development (10%)
    Who we are looking for
    • Master’s preferred or equivalent work experience
    • 5+ years of relevant work experience (startup support, VCs, etc)
    • Experience in creating partnerships and fundraising in the startup ecosystem
    • Demonstrated leadership or management experience, including responsibility for both people and programs
    • Strong existing network with Swiss Startup Ecosystems (preference given to those who also have a strong, relevant network in the Bay Area)
    • International work experience
    • Proven success in entrepreneurship, innovation, and connecting people across ecosystems

    Operations Manager in Boston

    The Operations Manager leads back-of-the-house operations for Swissnex in Boston and New York, including HR, finance, and infrastructure maintenance. Reporting to the CEO, the Operations Manager ensures the successful and smooth daily operation of the organization. Our ideal candidate will be a seasoned operations manager with 3+ years’ experience in finance, accounting, and HR functions, a great attention to detail and ability to work independently. This person should be comfortable leading back office functions with minimal oversight, and with managing a small team.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Manages all HR functions for Swissnex in Boston and New York (~13 staff), including payroll, onboarding/offboarding, HR policies, and liaising with relevant government and diplomatic offices. Develops and communicates HR policies in consultation with the CEO and with the Embassy of Switzerland in Washington, DC.
    • Lead responsibility for all financial operations, including monthly accounting and reporting, payments and invoicing. Extensive liaising with the central accounting office in Bern, Switzerland.
    • Establishes and tracks overall yearly budget for Swissnex, liaises with project managers to ensure proper budgeting of events and programs, as well as proper reporting of expenses and in-kind contributions.
    • Oversees and manages the physical and IT infrastructure of Swissnex. This includes two buildings (office and consular residence), computer and server systems, software, and inventory.
    • Reports regularly to and collaborates with the CEO to ensure smooth functioning of HR, finance, budget, and infrastructure.
    • Manages the Operations and Events Coordinator, leading a team responsible for ensuring smooth logistical planning and execution for dozens of onsite and offsite activities per year. 
    • Effectively communicates and collaborates with relevant internal and external agencies, including the Swiss consular network; Swiss Foreign Ministry; State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation; and US Office of Foreign Missions.
    • Helps to manage the space through in-person presence in our Boston office a minimum of 3 days per week. This job is not eligible for full-time remote work.
    Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelors or Masters in a field relevant to HR, finance, or operations, or equivalent experience gained through work
    • 3+ years experience in operations, logistics, budgeting, and accounting
    • Demonstrated experience with HR processes
    • Preference for experience in government, diplomatic, startup, or non-profit organizations
    • Excellent English skills required. Strong preference for advanced knowledge of a Swiss national language (German, French, or Italian)
    • Able to function independently with great attention to detail, precision, and reliability in workstreams. Demonstrated ability to follow rigorous and complex procedures
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on and pragmatic attitude. Ability to deliver under deadlines and adapt to changing conditions.
    • At ease with basic IT and other office technology management.

    Benefits
    • Starting salary of USD 75,000-80,000 yearly, depending on experience. This salary is for employees authorized to work in the US. For Swiss employees, whose salaries are not subject to US income taxes, the salary is adjusted downward to reflect the tax benefit.

    Programs Associate

    In the role of Programs Associate, you will be a generalist responsible for supporting our Arts & Creative Industry and Innovation Teams and on an ongoing basis, as well as helping the Academic Engagement, Communications, and Operations teams on a project basis. Your main tasks will include:

    • Executing programs and events in our focus areas that create value for Swiss and American stakeholders. In consultation with the Swissnex team, you will engage in all aspects of project creation and implementation.
    • Conducting background research and identification of relevant contacts for clients and events. Supporting daily operations, logistics, hospitality, and administrative tasks.

    A central part of the role is to support the Head of Arts & Creative Industries and the Swissnex team in the organization of Swissnex’ presence at Climate Week New York 2026. This includes managing and executing individual events, supporting exhibitions and communications, liaising with US and Swiss partners, as well as managing the overall operations and logistics of a very complex, ambitious and high-visibility project.

    The Innovation team provides services and programs to support Swiss startups exploring and expanding in the US. You will support the team through researching relevant partners, clients, and startups that meet our stakeholders’ needs, as well as executing events and projects that support the team’s mission.

    You will also support the Academic Engagement team by managing academic exchange programs and tailored services for Swiss universities, developing networks in American and Swiss higher education, hosting partners, and conducting research on specific topics of interest to academic partners.

    • The candidate must not yet have professional experience in the field of his/her studies.
    • The total period of internships in the federal government (including this one) may not exceed 12 months.
    • Applicants must be Swiss citizens. Those with a Permit B, C or any other status are not eligible for this position.
    • Excellent written and spoken English is expected.
