What would it mean to imagine a new diplomacy – a diplomacy for the planet?
Swissnex returns to Climate Week NYC with the Planetary Embassy, a pop-up venue dedicated to international, interdisciplinary, and interspecies collaboration. Part of Swissnex’s global initiative to imagine a new Planetary Diplomacy, the Planetary Embassy at Climate Week will explore how we can work with the more-than-human world—including the often-overlooked ecosystems of our cities—to address urgent and interconnected planetary crises.
From September 23 to 25 at Mabou Mines in the East Village, the Planetary Embassy will host conversations, installations, film screenings, and more on these topics featuring contributions from Switzerland, New York, and beyond, with a focus on urban environments as a frontier for planetary imagination and action.

Urban Refuge is an an immersive spatial experience developed by students at Institut auf dem Rosenberg and MIT researchers, exploring the future of climate-resilient urban life.
Arboreal Severance by Swiss artist duo Kieffer Woodtli is an immersive audio installation highlighting the fundamental wound of our time: the severance between human beings and Earth.
The Planetary Embassy is located at Mabou Mines in New York City's East Village.
What is a Planetary Embassy?
The Planetary Embassy comes alive through a series of pop-up experiences across the Swissnex network. Weaving together research, technology, indigenous knowledge, and the arts, the program invites you—from Climate Week NYC to COP30 in the Amazon—to co-create a “planetary diplomacy” that reaches across species, time scales, and natural forces, helping us negotiate our place within a more-than-human world.
