This year, Swissnex returns to Web Summit Rio with the third edition of the swisstech Pavilion, showcasing cutting-edge Swiss innovation at Latin America’s most important technology conference. From April 27-30, 2025, the Web Summit will gather over 35,000 attendees, including more than 500 investors, 500 journalists, 400 speakers, 200 partners, and 1,000 startups – among them, Swiss startups and innovative companies under the label “swisstech Ambassadors.” The accompanying program “Talks @ swisstech” features sessions for Swiss and Brazilian innovators and decision makers to share bold ideas, present new solutions, and highlight emerging trends.

Andrea Caroni is the President of the Swiss Council of States for the 2024-2025 period. He is a Swiss lawyer and politician who has served in the Council of States (Senate) since 2015. He previously served in the National Council (House of Representatives) from 2011 to 2015. Andrea Caroni studied Law at the University of Zurich and University of Lausanne. In 2007, he was admitted to the bar and completed his Juris Doctor in 2008 in State Law and International Law. Between 2008 and 2010, he was personal assistant to Federal Councilor (Minister) Hans-Rudolf Merz, who also acted as President of Switzerland during this time (2009). Between 2010 and 2012, Andrea Caroni completed a Master of Public Administration at Harvard Kennedy School. In parallel of his political activities, he is since 2025 an Honorary Professor of Public Law at the University of St. Gallen, where he has been giving lectures since 2013.
