Imagining a Planetary Embassy

Swissnex, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Switzerland in New York and Institute auf dem Rosenberg, presents a conversation on planetary diplomacy at Climate Week NYC.

Traditional diplomacy is about fostering understanding, building relationships and representing interests between countries, territories and governments. The challenges of climate change and planetary depletion push to ask: what does it look like to represent the interests of the planet? Our opening event, “Imagining a Planetary Embassy”, invites us to imagine diplomacy with other species, biospheres, or earth systems. How can we build new frontiers of knowledge and communication in order to understand, weigh, and represent non-human interests in balance with human ones?

A short moderated discussion will be followed by guided tours through the Planetary Embassy, setting the scene for the numerous events that will take place at Mabou Mines during Climate Week. Swissnex partners and their selected guests will receive priority in registration. Limited additional tickets are available.
