Celebrating Swiss excellence in open innovation
Amid a vibrant gathering of global innovators at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025, the Swisstech Pavilion was awarded the event’s top honor as the most innovative pavilion. Selected from among numerous international showcases, this recognition highlights the strength of Switzerland’s startup ecosystem and the impact of the ten pioneering Swiss startups featured. The awarding of the startups continued: AVAtronics impressed the jury and reached the Top 8 finalists out of 700 startups in the annual Pitch Contest – SusHi Tech Challenge 2025. Finally, Inveel and AVAtronics were selected for the prestigious KGAP+ accelerator program. From AI diagnostics and sustainable energy to robotics and software innovation, each brought forward solutions that resonated with a global audience.
The Pavilion also offered unique opportunities for direct engagement, including an encounter between the startups and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike—underscoring the visibility and relevance of Swiss innovation on the international stage.
“Switzerland has long stood at the forefront of technology and innovation. This SusHi Tech Award 2025 reaffirms our commitment to shaping a future driven by bold ideas and global collaboration.”
— Dr. Felix Moesner, Swissnex in Japan
On May 8, Dr. Felix Moesner welcomed Swiss Ambassador Roger Dubach, Tokyo Vice Governor Manabu Miyasaka and SCCIJ President Michael Mroczek to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the inauguration of the Swisstech Pavilion
The Swisstech Pavillion provided the Swiss startups with opportunities to meet VCs, CVCs, investors, and the local community as well as exchanging information and ideas with potential business partners. The startup founders widened their network and explored the latest trends in innovation and technology.
The Swisstech Pavilion at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025 was organized by Swissnex in Japan in partnership with Presence Switzerland, Swissnex, Swiss Business Hub Japan, Innovaud and Switzerland Global Enterprise, Innosuisse, Embassy of Switzerland in Japan, Trade Fair and Project Committee (TFPC), Deep Tech Nation Switzerland and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCIJ). It was also part of a Startup Camp powered by Innosuisse and managed by Swissnex, designed to help Swiss innovators explore and validate opportunities in Japan.

Learn moreThe events kicked off earlier in the week at the Residence of the Ambassador of Switzerland to Japan. Swissnex in Japan and Swiss Business Hub Japan co-organized a special event that brought together VCs, CVCs and innovation leaders in Tokyo on May 7. The official reception started with welcome remarks by Swiss Ambassador Roger Dubach and Dr. Felix Moesner’s overview of the powerful Swiss Startup Ecosystem, followed by the startup pitches and a presentation by Luca Saporita, Swiss Business Hub Japan, who introduced Switzerland Innovation.
An ultimate highlight was to finally welcome the Swisstech startups to Osaka after SusHi Tech 2025. The startups pitched at two landmark events at Swissnex in Japan and at the Swiss Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. It marked the first time such a large Swisstech startup delegation pitched collectively at the Swiss Pavilion, drawing a curated audience of investors, venture capitalists, and industry leaders from the Kansai region in a full house setting. This was a wonderful occasion for the startups and distinguished guests to exchange ideas and celebrate the spirit of Swiss-Japanese collaboration and the boundless potential of startups.
