In today's fast-paced world, the concept of health and longevity has expanded far beyond the traditional healthcare system, which mostly treats the symptoms of our natural aging process, e.g., through medicine and drugs. But longevity is a lifelong process and our health changes as we age, requiring different models of prevention and care at different stages of our lives. Furthermore, an aging population requires long-term strategies to address the needs of a generation that will dynamically assume roles that may differ between care-seekers and care providers.
By integrating a socio-ecological, technological and spatial perspective through the means of design, architecture, urban planning and innovative technologies, we aim to demonstrate the potential of a holistic approach to care to transform the way we think about care for a growing elderly society.
The event will bring together experts from these diverse backgrounds, including architects, researchers and other professionals. Through engaging discussions and practical examples, participants will have the opportunity to explore how design, architecture, urbanism and new technologies can be used to address health-related challenges in the context of longevity and urbanisation and create what we define ecosystems of care.
