Swiss Alumni community of Japan
Over 150 alumni from 30+ Swiss universities and schools gathered from across Japan, including Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto, Tokyo, and even Okinawa. The event brought together past and present students of Swiss public universities and schools who now call Japan home—reconnecting over Swiss delicacies, shared memories, and new opportunities.
We were also honored by the presence of a Swiss parliamentary delegation, including Mr. Pierre-André Page, 1st Vice-President of the Swiss National Council, adding a special dimension to the event.
With a network of more than 1,000 Swiss university alumni living in Japan, the event highlighted the growing strength and diversity of this unique community. This year, we also celebrated the remarkable achievements of our alumni community with inspiring pitches from Andrea Nava, Ai Ozawa, and Yuko Kawakami, highlighting the diverse activities and opportunities within the Swiss Alumni network.
The event welcomed alumni and friends from institutions including EPFL, ETH Zurich, University of Geneva, University of Zurich, University of St.Gallen, Geneva Graduate Institute, University of Lausanne, University of Basel, University of Bern, University of Fribourg, USI Università della Svizzera italiana, EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality, BFH, HWZ, CHUV, FHGR, EMPA, ZHAW, ZHdK, Gymnasium Bern, Gymnasium Freudenberg, Hanfländer Schule, HEMU, HES-SO, IMD, ISAP Zurich, Institut Le Rosey, Ecole primaire de Villars-Vers, and Kumon Leysin Academy of Switzerland.
The presence of so many institutions is a testament to the depth and breadth of Switzerland’s education system—and its far-reaching impact in Japan.
Swissnex in Japan supports the Swiss Alumni community in Japan, with regular gatherings and events designed to foster exchange, build professional bridges, and showcase the work of Swiss-educated individuals contributing to Japan’s innovation ecosystem. We also collaborate with organizations such as the Swiss Society of the Kansai and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCIJ) to expand engagement and promote Swiss excellence in education, research, and innovation.
As we look ahead to more activities during Expo 2025 Osaka, we invite all Swiss university alumni living in Japan to join the network.
