Open Call | Compute Grants & Collaboration Projects with the Swiss AI Initiative

Researchers, research teams and institutions across Europe and beyond can apply for compute grants and collaboration projects with the Swiss AI Initiative, advancing frontier AI research using 'Alps', one of the world’s most powerful AI-centric supercomputers.

The Swiss AI Initiative, the largest open science effort for AI foundation models worldwide and part of the Swiss National AI Institute, provides access to millions of GPU hours on Alps, operated by the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS). This infrastructure enables cutting-edge research in large-scale AI model development, novel AI methods, and high-impact applications.

Researchers from academic institutions and public research organisations are eligible to apply. Interdisciplinary and international collaborations are encouraged. Proposals should demonstrate clear scientific or methodological advancement in AI research and a commitment to open science principles.

Please review the submission guidelines and prepare a short proposal outlining objectives, methodology, compute requirements and expected impact. Selected projects gain access to world-class AI compute infrastructure and join a growing interdisciplinary community developing open models, tools and datasets that benefit academia, industry, SMEs and society at large.
