The Bose Beamline Challenge, a hands-on science competition inspired by CERN’s Beamline for Schools, empowers school and undergraduate students to explore particle accelerators and beamlines through hands-on scientific inquiry. Participants conceptualise and propose experiments using advanced research facilities, gaining access to rare opportunities in experimental physics and scientific innovation while engaging with leading researchers, engineers and educators worldwide. The winning team gets to visit CERN in Geneva, Switzerland!

Open to students from Grades 8–12 and undergraduate programmes in science, engineering and allied disciplines, the Bose Beamline Challenge organised by the Life Lab Education and Research Foundation promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and equitable STEM participation. A registration fee of INR 5000 for Indian teams or $100 for international teams applies, with subsidised access available for schools supporting underrepresented learners and disadvantaged communities nationwide.

The Challenge offers a prestigious platform for students to transform ideas into real scientific experiments. Teams compete for access to world-class laboratories in India and abroad, present proposals to leading scientists, gain exposure to authentic research practices and build confidence, collaboration, leadership and national recognition through meaningful experiential learning shaping scientific careers. Students get mentorship from scientists and educators at CERN and key Indian research centres. Application deadline is 10 February 2026.
