Why India?
India’s healthcare sector, valued at USD 372 billion in FY23 and projected to reach USD 638 billion by 2025, offers Swiss startups a high-growth environment for innovation. With over 70,000 hospitals and a robust healthtech ecosystem of 10,000+ startups in diagnostics, digital health, medtech and AI based solutions, the country provides access to diverse patient populations, real-world testing environments and co-development partners.
Known as the “Contract Research Organization (CRO) of the world”, India enables faster, cost-effective R&D and clinical validation. Swiss startups can tap into this ecosystem to develop precision diagnostics across the spectrum—from ultra-affordable tools for mass use to high-end solutions for personalised care. Its deep clinical infrastructure and adaptive regulatory pathways support rapid prototyping, validation and scaling.
The recent Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between Switzerland and India further reduces entry barriers, paving the way for Swiss healthtech innovations to gain traction in India and scale globally.
