Sino-Swiss Roundtable: Building a Future-Ready Skilled Workforce

What will be the three most important transversal skills professionals need by 2030? How is artificial intelligence reshaping the essential skills of the workforce over the next five years? And how can Switzerland and China—two countries with innovation-driven economy—make sure its talents continue to meet the demands of the industry?

These questions will guide the Sino-Swiss Roundtable: Building a Future-Ready Skilled Workforce, organized by Swissnex in China on the occasion of WorldSkills Shanghai. While the competition brings together trade associations, companies, schools, experts and policy makers from around the world, the Sino-Swiss Roundtable invites Swiss and Chinese stakeholder to provide a platform for discussion, mutual learning of best practices and potential collaboration.

In the moderated discussion, the participants will explore three pillar questions:

  • What are the key transversal skills across sectors by 2030?
  • Is there an AI hype? Will AI change the essential skills needed in your trade or not really?
  • What do schools/institutions/companies/associations need in order to make sure their learners/employees/apprentices obtain skills needed for the future?

The roundtable is organized by Swissnex in China, in cooperation with Shanghai University of Engineering Sciences, Shanghai Technician School, The Adecco Group, the VPET Committee of SwissCham China, and the College of Shanghai Lausanne Hospitality Management at Shanghai Business School.

The discussion of the roundtable will be released in the form of the 3rd edition of the Sino-Swiss VPET White Paper.
