Future Food Fellowship info session

Join us on the 4th of February to learn more about the Future Food Fellowship with Braida Thom!

ETH Zürich and EPFL launched the “Future Food Initiative” with Swiss food industry leaders Bühler, Givaudan and Nestlé. The research initiative aims at expanding research and education in the areas of food and nutrition sciences.

The fellowship programme within the initiative aims at bringing together competences from academic and industrial research in this field. The overarching goal is to develop solutions that address grand challenges, ranging from sustainable packaging (for example the elimination of plastics) to affordable nutrition (for example combatting deficiencies and starvation globally).

The fellowship offers the possibility to researchers from any country, holding a doctoral degree, to spend up to three years in Switzerland and develop their research project. To learn more about the application procedure click here. The application deadline is the 31st of March 2021.

Swissnex Brazil is inviting Braida Thom on the 4th of February to present the Future Food Initiative and its fellowship to researchers interested in applying for the position. The event will be held in English, with a Q&A session.

    Braida Thom

    World Food System Center Project Manager

    Braida Thom joined the World Food System Center as Project Manager in November 2019. In her role, she manages the research programs of the Center, including the Future Food Fellowship. She completed her bachelor studies in Agricultural Science at ETH Zurich and her master studies in Agricultural Economics at ETH Zurich and Boku Vienna. Her master thesis was part of the Flagship project “Enhancing Resilience in Food Systems” and focused on evaluating action measures to enhance resilience of Ghanaian cocoa farmers to drought. She then joined the World food system center as an intern, supporting communication, outreach, and education activities. Since May 2019, she also works with the ETH Zurich Sustainable Agroecosystems group, where she is in charge of the monitoring and evaluation of the project “Post-​harvest cocoa processing & farmers’ support centers.” Implemented by CABOZ AG, the project aims to counter risks along the cocoa value chain and implement sustainability initiatives in Côte d’Ivoire.
