As part of the Planetary Embassy in Belém during the UN climate summit COP30, the Swiss-based Capacity Foundation, in partnership with Swissnex, invite you to the premier of The Chiefs, a short film produced by Open Planet Studios, See Through Stories, and the Capacity Foundation. The film follows Chief Álvaro Tukano and his efforts to defend his territory in the Amazon region.
Following the screening, an open floor discussion with Chief Tukano and other indigenous leaders from some of the Amazon’s largest territories will offer an opportunity to learn about their ancestral knowledge, approaches to land stewardship, and their perspectives on how emerging technologies – such as Capacity’s AI-powered satellite monitoring – are transforming efforts to protect the rainforest.

Cacique Álvaro Tukano is a traditional leader of the Tukano people of the Upper Rio Negro, in the Brazilian Amazon, and a lifelong defender of Indigenous rights and territories. He has been at the forefront of movements against illegal deforestation, mining, and land invasions. Recognized for his leadership in uniting Indigenous communities, Álvaro has amplified their voices in national and international forums, advocating for the protection of the Amazon as both an ancestral homeland and a vital ecosystem for the planet.

Enoque Marubo is the President of the Kapy Association, an Indigenous organization from the TI Vale do Javari, the second-largest Indigenous territory in the Brazilian Amazon, covering 8.5 million hectares. A committed advocate for the rights and autonomy of Indigenous Peoples, Enoque has worked for more than 20 years to strengthen the governance and cultural resilience of the Marubo and other communities in the region. Through his leadership at Kapy, he promotes initiatives that defend traditional territories, while also fostering sustainable livelihoods and intercultural dialogue.

Bep-Y Kayapó is the president of the Associação Indígena Mantinó (AIM), which represents the communities of the Terra Indígena Baú in the Brazilian Amazon. A respected leader and son of the chief who secured the demarcation of the territory, Bep-Y works to strengthen Indigenous governance, preserve cultural traditions, and protect the Baú lands. Through AIM, he spearheads initiatives to combat illegal logging and other environmental threats, while fostering sustainable development and promoting the well-being of the Kayapó people.

Flora Dutra is the Head of Indigenous Relations at Capacity, where she forges connections between traditional knowledge and global efforts to preserve the Amazon rainforest. A Brazilian human rights advocate and environmental mediator, she has over a decade of experience working alongside Indigenous leaders in the Amazon. Operating across some of the most remote and biodiverse border regions in Central America, Flora has built deep, trusted relationships with local communities. Internationally recognized and awarded for her work in Indigenous rights and advocacy, she has dedicated her life to protecting Brazil’s Indigenous territories and the guardians who defend them.
From November 9 to 21, 2025, the Planetary Embassy comes to life in Belém, Brazil, on the margins of the UN climate summit COP30. Part of a series of pop-up experiences across the global Swissnex network, this edition is hosted in the zoobotanical gardens of the Goeldi Museum, a setting that blends the Amazon's biodiversity, science, ancestral wisdom, and Swiss legacy.
