Diplomacy has always been about building and managing relationships. But what if the relationships that matter most right now are not the ones between nations but between humans and the living systems we depend on?
As introduced ahead of our April launch, this question sits at the heart of the Planetary Embassy, Swissnex’s flagship initiative, coming to China this fall.
Before the project’s public program starts, we’re inviting everyone to take part in a creative endeavor:
Giving the Planetary Embassy its Chinese name.
In a Chinese language context, the literal translation “大使馆” refers to a building. In English, however, an “Embassy” does not only refer to a built space, but also to a mission – one entrusted to represent others, convey messages, and foster dialogue.
Similarly, the Planetary Embassy is an open platform that brings diverse voices together to think beyond human-centric narratives and to consider ecosystems, species, rivers, soils, and the living systems that make life possible.
What Chinese name best captures the Planetary Embassy’s philosophy and vision? We look forward to your ideas.
Terms and conditions
In addition to seeing the name used across our Chinese-language communications, the winner will be invited to share the story behind their proposal on our website and social media channels.
The winning submission will also be recognized with a special gift from Swissnex in China (shipping available to any address in China).
Submissions close on July 31.
