Boundary Conditions and Governance Framework: 4th Sino-Swiss Research Integrity Workshop

The 4th Sino-Swiss Research Integrity Workshop is jointly hosted by Swissnex in China, the Embassy of Switzerland in China, and Frontiers. Now in its fourth edition, it brings together policymakers, academic leaders, and industry figures from both countries to weigh a question that grows more consequential each year: How research integrity must continually adapt to a research ecosystem increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence?

These questions are particularly important in cross-border research collaborations. As research collaborations in the age of AI tend to grow in both scale and complexity, navigating the relevant framework conditions can no longer be considered a simple task. What roles can—and should—artificial intelligence play in research and publication? How will this reshape the ways in which funding agencies and academic institutions assess researchers and research impact? How should policymakers and regulators keep pace with rapid technological progress? How are researchers proactively putting responsible research and innovation into practice?

As Switzerland and China are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Innovative Strategic Partnership in 2026, by bringing together speakers from leading institutions in both countries, the workshop moves from frameworks to best practices, seeking to advance a shared Sino-Swiss contribution to a fure-ready global research ecosystem on which the world can rely.
