This workshop explores future forms of cohabitation between humans and other species through transspecies theory, bioArt, and direct experimentation with slime moulds. It takes up the central question of the artistic research project A Chimeric Duet Towards the End of Time: what changes in a trans-species relationship when the human no longer treats the slime mould as artistic material, but instead offers the body as an environment that the slime mould can traverse, inhabit, and mark?
The workshop approaches the slime mould as collaborator rather than specimen: an organism that blurs boundaries between individual and collective, teaching us about decentralised intelligence and adaptive connection. It also approaches the human body as a landscape that can be traversed, marked, and temporarily inhabited.
The workshop has three layers. First, observation and experimentation. Participants observe and experiment with the living organism, tracing its growth patterns, responsiveness, and environmental interaction. Second, bodily and tactile translation. Participants translate what they observed into a bodily and tactile practice: using washable yellow pigment and slow tactile response sequences, branching paths drawn on hands begin to meet, overlap, transfer, and continue across different bodies. Touch is approached as a form of sensing and response: approach, pause, touch, follow, withdraw, reconnect. Third, documentation and re-viewing: the camera as co-creation.
