
From subtle influences in our everyday life, such as the Helvetica typeface used in the São Paulo metro system, to discoveries across many fields that continue to improve the way we live, innovations emerging from Switzerland take many forms. Around the world, alumni from these institutions play an essential role in advancing new ideas, and Brazil is no exception.
To strengthen the Swiss alumni community in Brazil and spark new connections, the Consulate General of Switzerland in São Paulo and Swissnex in Brazil invite you to an evening dedicated to alumni and former affiliates of universities in Switzerland.
The evening will begin with welcome remarks and talks, followed by food, drinks, music, and plenty of opportunities for networking.

Fernanda Abreu
Geneva Graduate InstituteThrough the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, Fernanda was a postdoctoral fellow in 2022 in Switzerland at the Geneva Graduate Institute — an experience that strengthened her international academic network and focus on the social impact of her research. She holds a Ph.D. in Law (PUC-Rio), a Master’s in History (Unirio), and an MBA in Project Management (USP), with over 10 years of experience in academic research, higher education, and human rights. She has also collaborated with institutions such as UFRJ, Fiocruz and FGV. She currently works as an academic project manager at FAU-USP and is a collaborating professor at IRI-USP.

Thalles Lorena
University of St. GallenThrough an academic exchange at the University of St.Gallen (HSG), Thalles Lorena spent a semester in Switzerland in 2023 as part of Fundação Getulio Vargas’ international program — an experience that strengthened his global perspective on business, technology, and innovation. During this period, he focused on areas such as data science, blockchain, international leadership, and entrepreneurship, including a capstone project developed in collaboration with Climeworks.
Thalles is the Founder & CEO of Carbonova, where he is building AI-native infrastructure for the low-carbon economy. Carbonova’s platform, carbonOS™, integrates specialized AI agents to support carbon and energy operations, including GHG inventory, regulatory compliance (CBAM, ISSB, CSRD, EUDR, SBCE), carbon trading, financial reporting, risk, and supplier intelligence. The solution is purpose-built for industries where decarbonization is critical, such as oil and gas, steel, mining, chemicals, agribusiness, ports, and data centers.

Paula de Andrade
University of Geneva, University of Lausanne, University of FribourgPaula Bresciani is a PhD-trained biochemist with over a decade of international experience in academic research, healthcare innovation, and scientific communication. She holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from USP and completed six years of postdoctoral research in Switzerland (UNIGE, UNIL, UNIFR), where she built a strong international network and broadened her perspective on global science. She currently works as a clinical researcher at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, developing artificial intelligence–based solutions for diagnostic support. Her expertise includes strategic proposal development, grant writing, and translating complex scientific knowledge into clear, impactful communication for diverse stakeholders.
