The Forest Women of Ehuana Yanomami

Join us at the Planetary Embassy in Belém during COP30 for a dialogue with Ehuana Yanomami, offering a rare glimpse into the meaning of art and women's leadership in her community.

As part of Planetary Embassy in Belém during the UN climate summit COP30, Swissnex, in collaboration with the Hutukara Yanomami Association and the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, invites you for a conversation with Ehuana Yanomami, artist, writer, activist, and voice of the Yanomami people.

In this session, Ehuana will discuss the strength, wisdom, and resilience of indigenous women. Drawing from ancestral memory and daily life in the forest, she will share reflections on art, community, motherhood, language, and the interdependence between people and the forest-land (Urihi). The conversation will be moderated by Vanessa Boanada, researcher and advocate for socio-environmental justice, who will bring an academic and intercultural perspective to the dialogue.

Through words and shared experiences, this encounter opens a space to listen and learn from Yanomami ways of knowing, where tradition, care for the forest, art, and contemporary challenges intersect. It is an invitation to dialogue and reciprocity, a moment to honor indigenous women’s leadership and the living connection between human life and the forest that sustains it.
