Connecting these different forms of knowledge and the people working across the territory is essential to turning ideas and research into products, partnerships, and solutions that respond to local realities and can thrive in the region.

This session brings together researchers, funding organizations, companies, and ventures to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping the bioeconomy today. From access to finance and scientific collaboration to supply chains, traceability, and market opportunities, the conversation explores how initiatives such as nexBio Amazonia can help build connections between knowledge, innovation, and business, creating new pathways for collaboration across the ecosystem.

    Guilherme Brammer

    The Hope Economy

    Guilherme Brammer is an entrepreneur, materials engineer, and specialist in circular economy and impact innovation. He founded Boomera, one of the pioneering companies in the circular economy in Brazil, and led its expansion until the company was sold in 2023. He is currently the first Brazilian to serve as an Executive Fellow at the World Economic Forum (WEF), contributing to global initiatives focused on innovation and socio-environmental challenges. He is the founder of Uthope and the creator of The Hope Economy, a movement that emerged from the documentary of the same name, created by Brammer after traveling to different countries and interviewing dozens of leading social innovators, entrepreneurs, and global leaders. The movement seeks to connect companies, investors, entrepreneurs, and organizations to accelerate positive-impact businesses, turning hope into action through innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship.

    Taciana Carvalho Coutinho

    PaCTAS

    Professor at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) and coordinator of PaCTAS. She has worked for more than 17 years in the Alto Solimões region on bioeconomy, innovation, territorial governance, and sustainable development, integrating science, traditional knowledge, and technologies for Amazonia.

    Antonio Carlos Souza is a researcher at the Institute of Scientific and Technological Research of the State of Amapá (IEPA) and the CEO of Bactolac Ltda, an award-winning startup developing innovative solutions for Amazonian aquaculture. He holds a PhD in Animal Science and works at the intersection of research, technology, and entrepreneurship, promoting sustainable and digital aquaculture in the Amazon. Antonio is also a startup mentor in national innovation programs and leads projects focused on the bioeconomy and the responsible use of the region’s aquatic resources.

    Guilherme Manechini

    Bioeconomy Amazon Summit (BAS)

    Journalist specialized in economics, with experience at outlets such as Valor Econômico, Exame, and iG. He was also editor of GQ Brasil and curator of the Wired Festival. In PR, he coordinated communications for innovation projects at companies such as Visa, Ambev, and KPTL. He is a partner at Kyvo Design Driven Innovation and the creator of the Bioeconomy Amazon Summit, where he has been working since 2023 on the executive production of the event and the consolidation of the BAS Convergence Hub as a platform for fostering collaboration and innovation in the bioeconomy.

    João Arthur Reis is the Programme Director at the Amazônia+10 Initiative, an alliance of research and innovation agencies dedicated to the Amazon. He has 10 years of experience working with the design and implementation of public policies in innovation, development and environment. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Oxford, Master’s degree in Political Economy from UFRJ and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from UFRGS.
