Join us for Imaging Planetary Diplomacy, the opening ceremony of Swissnex’s new location in São Paulo and the main event accompanying our outdoor exhibition Planetary Embassy on Avenida Paulista.
As Swissnex deepens its engagement in Brazil, the event will explore new opportunities for Swiss-Brazilian collaboration around the nature transition, from the Amazon and its emerging bioeconomy to more livable cities. We will present two new initiatives in this direction: the Living Forest Coalition, strengthening exchanges between Switzerland and Amazonia, and the Urban Futures Residency, bringing Swiss and Brazilian researchers and creatives together to explore how cities can contribute to the conditions for life on the planet.
Inspired by Swissnex’s concept of planetary diplomacy, the ceremony will open with a keynote on the power of photography to question and transform our relationship with nature, celebrating the life and work of Swiss-Brazilian photographer Claudia Andujar, under whose patronage the exhibition is presented. Imaging Planetary Diplomacy is part of Planetary Embassy in São Paulo.

Rios falam, Rios cantam
Spirito Santo & Caio RosaThe sound performance Rios falam, Rios cantam brings together artists Spirito Santo and Caio Rosa, with guest musician Pitter Rocha, in a journey through songs and stories inspired by African musical traditions present in Brazil. Drawing on instrument-sculptures conceived by Spirito Santo, the performance crosses the boundaries between music, sculpture, and memory, creating a dialogue between generations and evoking rivers as living pathways connecting Africa and Brazil. // Caio Rosa (b. 1992, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a visual artist, photographer, and researcher based in São Paulo. His practice explores the relationships between photography, sound, sculpture, and archival materials to investigate memory, cultural transmission, and the stories behind images. His work engages with Afro-Brazilian cultural traditions across Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. Through experimental photographic processes, musical instruments, sculptures, and sound installations, he examines how rhythm, water, and material transformation can act as carriers of historical memory. His work has been presented nationally and internationally at institutions and exhibitions including Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Museu de Vassouras, the Rencontres d’Arles Festival, Saatchi Gallery, Fotografiska Stockholm, and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. In 2026, he was selected for the 15th edition of Rencontres de Bamako – African Biennale of Photography in Mali. Rosa received the Prix Photo Aliança Francesa in 2024 and was an artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. // Spirito Santo is a musician, artist, researcher, and ethnomusicologist. He led Grupo Vissungo for nearly 50 years, a group dedicated to preserving and promoting Afro-Brazilian musical traditions. At the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), he created and developed the Musikfabrik Project, focusing on organology and the reconstruction of African musical instruments.
