The glaciers in the Swiss Alps are melting due to global warming. As a consequence, melting water from the “Plaine Morte” glacier has turned into a threat for the mountain village “Lenk” in the Bernese Alps. This is why scientists explore the water channels inside the glacier. Presenter Tobias Müller delves into this climatic hotspot – on a daring expedition into the middle of the glacier.

    Kathrin Hönegger Einstein Co-Host

    Hönegger has been co-hosting «Einstein» since 2013 and has presented specials from Japan (robotic sciences) as well as Africa (how science supports development aid. She also works for Swiss Radio SRF3 (talk "Fokus") as well as the art collective "Atelieer". Hönegger studied journalism.

    Tobias Müller (Einstein Co-Host)

    Müller has co-hosted «Einstein» since 2011. His special interest is in digital transformation which has led to contributions to digital highlights with SRF in the past few years (Digitaltag, SRF Mensch-Maschine). Before starting his career in radio and TV ournalism, Müller studied journalism (MAZ Luzern) as well as Multimedia Production (MSc at zhaw Chur).

    Marcel Barelli (Director)

    Marcel Barelli is an animation filmmaker. He attended the Haute école d'art et de design - Genève, cinema department. He develops all his projects around animals and nature. His short fims have been selected in hundreds of international film festivals and won numerous awards around the world.

    Tatiana Keller (Director)

    Tatiana Keller (Drozhzhova) is a space scientist and film director. She has a PhD degree in physics and graduated from Cinematography University (VGIK). She was working in Nicolas Thomas research group in Bern University when she got an idea to make an outreach series about CaSSIS - Martian orbit camera, and the mysteries of Mars.

    Shin Sugiyama

    Professor at the Institute of Low Temperature Science, Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan

    Shin Sugiyama is a Professor at the Institute of Low Temperature Science, Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan. He studies mountain glaciers and ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland. After he received his PhD in glaciology from Hokkaido University, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at ETH-Zurich from 2003 to 2005.
