For over a decade, Swissnex has partnered with Innosuisse to help the most promising startups from Switzerland sharpen their entrepreneurial mindset, skills and networks to successfully establish a foothold in the US market. The program has actively supported the development and internationalization efforts of some of the most successful Swiss startups, including Mindmaze, Dacuda, Doodle, Beekeeper and Ava. We also work with Swiss universities and Swiss-based support organizations to complement and expand their offerings.

Position Summary

We are looking for an Entrepreneurship Program Officer (EPO) to manage and scale our startup programs and to be our in-house expert on all things entrepreneurship. The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology and innovation, forward-thinking, impact oriented, entrepreneurial and a solid networker and have experience working for/with startups and the SF Bay Area startup ecosystem. The EPO will be responsible for the successful execution of our entrepreneurship programs and support in designing and building new programs.

Key Responsibilities 

STARTUP PROGRAMS MANAGEMENT (40%)

  • Lead project management for entrepreneurship programs
  • Scouting and pipeline management of qualified participants for startup programs 
  • Manage Innosuisse startup application process and liaise with Innosuisse, including supporting global coordination of Innosuisse startup services
  • Liaise with subject matter experts and Silicon Valley network to arrange sessions and visits during programs and increase visibility for programs and events 
  • Main point of contact for all startup related inquiries
  • Ensure high quality of startup services and track feedback and success of alumni
  • Support design of new programs and continuous improvement of existing ones

STARTUP PROGRAM OPS/ADMIN/COMMS SUPPORT (40%)

  • Ensure accurate documentation of Innosuisse startup programs 
  • Steer communication, marketing and engagement with and about future, present and past program participants and the overall ecosystem in coordination with our communications team
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure smooth communication and execution of startup programs (lead for content and format)
  • Push and propose continuous improvement of these processes

NETWORK DEVELOPMENT & GENERAL SUPPORT (20%)

  • Proactively expand the network for startup support (through engagement with the Swiss and US startup ecosystems) and for all of Swissnex’s activities 
  • Benchmarking for new and existing programs 
  • Support entrepreneurship team with other administrative duties, as assigned
  • Support in building a global startup community

Our ideal candidate 

  • 1 to 2 years’ relevant professional experience, ideally working within the Silicon Valley startup ecosystem
  • First Experience leading projects and using project management tools
  • Experience with basic marketing, content development, and event planning is a plus
  • Experience in building and maintaining a community is a plus
  • Excellent English language and communications skills
  • Proactive problem solver and team player with a growth mindset and positive attitude
  • Passionate about entrepreneurship, the impact it can create and connecting people
  • Willingness to experiment and go the extra mile

As Junior Project Manager at Swissnex in China, you will act as a connector between people and ideas. You will prepare, develop, execute and post-process activities and events in the exciting world of startups, innovation, and technology. This unique opportunity will allow you to take a deep dive into emerging trends while gaining real-world experience at an official representation of Switzerland in one of the most dynamic regions of the world. Main Responsibilities

  • Intelligence and Research: Contribute to our diverse mandates and agreements by identifying trends and key players in various science and technology fields, by conducting research and innovation scouting and by writing and editing reports for our partners and stakeholders

Requirements
  • Bachelor or master’s students and recent graduates, preferably from a Swiss university or university of applied sciences

  • Prior experience in event organization and/or project management in a similar field preferred

Main Responsibilities
  • General Communications: report to and support the Communications Team in further developing, strengthening and implementing Swissnex in China’s on- and offline communications strategy. Working closely with the Swissnex in China team, engage in marketing & communications tasks related to Swissnex projects and activities, from copywriting, translation, marketing analytics, graphics work to videos editing. Help maintain and grow database of contacts for the Swissnex CRM: invitations, newsletters (MailChimp) and announcements.
  • Content Creation: active contribution to events and delegation visits by assisting with photography, videos, blogs and interviews. Develop and maintain a library of high-quality copy, photo, video and other digital assets for our end-of-year Annual Report.
  • Web & Social Media: Ensure a positive and innovative presence of Swissnex in China across various web/social media channels. Conceptualize compelling content, schedule and implement social media / web campaigns using the Social Media Calendar.
  • Networking: act as a connector between people and ideas.
  • Other administrative, project management and support duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Chinese passport holder (Chinese citizenship only)
  • Excellent command of English and Mandarin; knowledge of a Swiss National language (German, French, Italian or Romansh) would be an advantage
  • Strong creative ability in copywriting, video / photo editing and graphic design with samples of your work to share
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop / InDesign / Premiere Pro) highly desired
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree, preferably from a Swiss University or University of Applied Sciences
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, avid networker and strong presentation skills

The Operations & Events manager has a central role and makes sure everything works, seamlessly … and with a wow factor.

Responsibilities
  • Human Resources: Draft job descriptions, conduct interviews and manage recruitments. Onboarding and welcoming experience of new team members (incl. documentation, handbooks, processes, evaluation). Observe performances of and act as mentor to the team. Process and record HR data.
  • Accounting: Process payments and enter in the bookkeeping system. Preparation of regular financial reports and maintaining of cash controls & cost statements. Payment transactions and maintain accounts payable / receivable. Conduct year-end closure and assist on annual budget making.
  • Project Controlling: Monitor project requests, evaluate reporting and budgeting. Manage mandates and agreements with various partners and stakeholders and keep overview including deadlines. Ensure compliance with organizational handbook and regulations.
  • Communications: Establish and maintain social media channels and website with regular content. Produce promotional material in-house and/or with external supplier.

Requirements
  • Swiss or Japanese passport holder
